According to a recent Syracuse.com report, Mayor Sharon Owens is close to hiring Syracuse’s first “night mayor.” The official title is nightlife coordinator, but the vision for this position reaches far beyond bars and clubs.
The nightlife coordinator is expected to help strengthen the connection between local businesses, entertainment, public safety, public art, and city government. The goal is to create a downtown Syracuse that remains active, welcoming, and enjoyable after the traditional workday ends.
